It always starts off with some connection. For me, it was baseball cards and the obsession to find a gem in a pack. Going to card shows on the weekends with my friends. It quickly turned into real gems, like crystals, coins and fossils. Always on the hunt at swap meets or garage sales. Ultimately, an appreciation for history, provenance, and aesthetics took hold. Could be anything, but the connection became everything. No matter what you collect, when you find something that calls to you, we all want to know the value first, am I right? But what is value? I had an old nautical antiques dealer once say to me, "We're just borrowing these things for a lifetime".
