Key Fact

1
Historical significanceThe 1943 Lincoln Cent is notable as it was minted during World War II when copper was needed for the war effort. As a result, the U.S. Mint produced cents using zinc-coated steel instead, making the copper version a rare error coin.
2
Artist informationVictor David Brenner designed the Lincoln Cent in 1909 to commemorate Abraham Lincoln's 100th birthday. His design has endured, becoming one of the most recognized coins in American numismatics.
3
Design featuresThe obverse features a portrait of Lincoln with the inscription 'LIBERTY' and the year '1943', while the reverse displays two stalks of wheat with 'ONE CENT' inscribed, symbolizing prosperity.

Value Fact

The value of a 1943 Lincoln Cent can vary significantly based on its condition and rarity. While most steel cents are relatively common, the copper version is highly sought after by collectors, making it a valuable addition to any numismatic collection. Factors that influence its value include mint condition, rarity of mint marks, and historical significance. A coin with minimal corrosion and good detail can fetch a higher price at auctions.

Rarity significantly enhances the desirability of this coin, making it a prized possession for dedicated collectors.
